JANUS VINEYARD

Janus's two faces are looking into the past and towards the future at the same time. We, at Janus Vineyard and Tasting Room have respect for the past yet dare to be fresh and new. Wine is a medium that connects the past with the future, tradition with renewal, people with people... We at Janus Vineyard work to produce wines that are sophisticated and refined enough to function as a mediator and represent the Villány wine-region throughout world.

Our newly planted vineyard is located in the western border of the Villány wine-region and all of it's 12 hectares are capable of producing DHC (Districus Hungaricus Controlatus) Villány Premium Quality wine.

The grapes we grow are representative of the region and our taste: Portugieser, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Lunel.

The wines made from the 2007 virgin harvest are now aviable in our Tasting Room and in several wine stores in Hungary.

We have created a Tasting Room with a unique style and pleasant ambiance. It is at the vineyard located between Túrony and Harkány on Tenkes-hill, surrounded by 12 hectares of our vineyard. This gives you the chance to taste our wines right on the spot where they come from.

Our panorama terrace offers a wonderful view to the wine-hills, the plain of Harkány and the distant mountains over the Croatian border.

Janus Pinot Noir Rosé

Our rosé cuvée is primarily made from Pinot Noir which gives it a deeper aroma than any other rosés in the area. We believe that the conditions of Tenkes-hill gives this exceptional flavor to our rosé.

Janus Portugieser 2009

It's aroma is rich in fruits and flowers. It is very light, natural wine. Great dinner partner but we think of it as the wine for everyday enjoyment as well. The classic "kékoportó" of Villány is the favorite of the local winemakers. It is ours as well!

Janus Pinot Noir 2007

The main characteristics of this wine, made from a world-famous grape, is its fine acid backbone which we have not found in any other wines. It appears to be fresher than most of the full bodied reds, but it's elegance is beyond compare.

Janus Mézvirág 2009 (Muscat Lunel)

You can smell honey and a big Bouquet of flowers but in the mouth it is a dry dessert wine. It is special, gossipy and it tricks you in the best way. After a nice tasting it's the perfect closing wine; the girls will start screaming...

There are several options in the area for overnight stays. There is an apartment house right next to the vineyard, and there are rooms aviable in several hotels in the nearby spa city, of Harkány (Familia Apartman), which is only 3km-s from our vineyard. Feel free to ask us for assistance!

If you get hungry youacan have a delicious local meal right next to our vineyard at the famous "Tenkes Csárda" which offers home made specialties.
